迦姆藥草學，起源於13世紀，如同中國的中藥醫學及印度的阿唷吠陀醫學。
印尼有香料群島之稱，境內生產數萬種草本植物與奇珍異草，製成療效不同的香料後，都被進貢到皇宮內，皇室的人則因運用迦姆藥草的保養，多半體態輕盈而年輕貌美，因地處熱帶，其植物品種與中國的中草藥全不同，發展出自成一格的草藥系統。因歷史背景之故，長期以來迦姆藥草不段在爪哇宮廷中進行改良，併發展出許多皇室御用保養秘方，直到1920年一位宮中婦女將這秘方帶出，並加以大量販賣，當地人民才有緣接觸到這深具神秘性的補品，至今有400多年的歷史。
在印尼當地迦姆藥草與我們的中草藥一樣，隨處可見，多用於保健美容，亦用於治療之用，有美體塑身功效的、有去斑去痘美白功效的、生髮烏髮、治療女性或男性生理功能...等等；可能因為普遍使用迦姆藥草的緣故，在印尼街頭上，少見胖子或臉上有斑有痘的人，每個女子的身材大多都是豐胸細腰而苗條的。

使用方法：
